Window Vinyl Commission, Macmillan Haematology Unit, Northampton Royal Infirmary

These printed window films were designed for the Macmillan Haematology Outpatients Unit at Northampton General Hospital, to enhance the waiting, treatment and counselling areas of the new unit. The images are based on photographs and drawings of plants and nature in my garden. They are enlarged to huge sizes, to create the feeling of being in a meadow forest, much like the small bugs that live amongst them.

The window films are translucent rather than transparent, to give partial privacy to the patients, while enabling some views of the outside. Their appearance changes depending on time of day, and whether they are viewed from the inside or outside.

The colours are designed to harmonise with interior finishes and furnishings.
